I’m Sid Gupta. I’ve spent years volunteering in Sammamish, serving on the Parks and Recreation Commission, leading local non-profits, and working as a Native Plant Steward. I believe serving on City Council is the best way I can build on my legacy of positive engagement within our local government.

Priorities

Transportation

With regional amenities like the East Lake Sammamish Trail and regional light rail on the horizon, how we get around our city is more important than ever. Safe, efficient multimodal transportation and planning for mass transit are key to the future of our city.

Sustainability

Climate Action should be a core value in everything we do. Clear goals and measurable impact reporting will help keep us accountable as we take meaningful steps to a cleaner, greener Sammamish.

Financial Stability

Economic development combined with data-driven planning and policy will help establish a base for a vibrant financial future. There is an unprecedented amount of federal funding coming available; aggressive pursuit of grants will help us commit to capital projects while limiting our own spending.

Housing Affordability

A diverse mix of housing will help long-term residents age in place, allow those who work in Sammamish to live in Sammamish, and create transit walksheds that will make it easier for us to get around efficiently.

Regional Participation

Communities around the County and State are facing the same challenges of housing, economic development, and equity. Sammamish should have a strong voice in regional discussions as we tackle these issues together.

Empowering our Youth

We have an incredible contingent of active, engaged youth in our community.  I am advocating for creating a Youth space on each of our volunteer commissions.  This would provide a valuable opportunity for our youth members while offering a fresh perspective from our most forward-thinking residents.

My passion is to create a safe, connected, and efficient system of trails and transit in our city.

I have been awarded the 2016 SAMMI Award for Environmental Stewardship and the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from the City of Sammamish.

I’ve spent nearly a decade building strong connections in our community. I believe our diversity is our strength. Together we can ensure everyone in Sammamish has a voice as we lay the foundations for a responsible, inclusive, and prosperous future.
